Frequently asked questions
What is Forest Therapy?
Forest Therapy is a practice for supporting healing and wellness through sensory immersion in forests and other natural environments. It is a pathway to health and wellbeing for both humans and the more-than-human world of Nature by focusing on our relationship and the reciprocity therein. You can expect a guided sensory experience with invitations for you to explore your own connection with Nature.
What should I wear on a walk?
Please wear comfortable, breathable clothing and walking footwear. Consider wearing multiple layers as temperatures (and insect friends) can shift from open areas to under the tree canopy to water sources. The walk is slow and covers only a short distance with frequent stopping to sit or stand still. Many people who frequently walk or exercise outdoors find that forest therapy walks require them to bundle up more than normal.
What should I bring?
Please bring anything you might want to make your walk comfortable and safe for you. The walk is a short distance, and you will need to carry your personal belongings. Consider the following items:
small backpack
blanket, sit-upon, or light folding chair/stool
extra layers, hat, gloves
water bottle/thermos
raincoat/poncho/umbrella
sunscreen and bug spray
personal medications, EpiPen, and/or inhaler
face mask
What about COVID-19?
Programs are outdoors, and masks are optional per state guidelines. Please practice physical distancing between you and other humans. Consider bringing a mask in the event you need to go indoors (i.e., restrooms) or physical distancing is not feasible. If you are not feeling well, please reschedule your walk. Participants who develop symptoms or test positive for COVID-19 within five days before or after the event must contact Theresa. Thank you for your cooperation.
